Membership Criteria
As from 1 May 2011 the application process for the WCO has changed.
The WCO recognises that workplace consultants are born out of a range of disciplines rather than, for example, being associated with a specific degree. Membership will therefore be awarded based on nominations from Full or Honorary Members supported by a second. Members will be responsible for the credentials and conduct of those they nominate, and all members will be required to agree to the WCO’s Code of Professional Conduct.
The Workplace Consulting Organisation would like to encourage you to become a member by meeting the nomination criteria and contributing to the growth and development of this organisation.
Here are the guiding principles for becoming a member of the Workplace Consulting Organisation:
-
Potential members must be nominated and seconded by existing WCO members. The Nominator should give you some background to the WCO and the application procedure -
Your Nominator must be from outside your own organisation. Both the Nominator and Seconder need to be full or honorary members of the WCO. You can find a list of WCO members in our Register -
Once nominated, please complete the WCO membership Application form v1.2.pdf and email to the WCO Council for consideration (please note the form will need to be printed/scanned or printed to pdf). Email the form to: admin@workplaceconsulting.org -
Please clarify which membership category you are applying for, Full, Academic or Graduate membership; Honorary membership is at the discretion of the WCO Council -
Once the application is received by the WCO Council they will contact the Nominator and Seconder to check the applicant has their support. The application will then be vetted by and voted on by the Council at the next monthly Council meeting -
Applications will be approved based on a majority decision from a quorum of the Council. Borderline applications will be discussed by the Council -
The applicant will be contacted by email on the outcome of the vetting. -
Successful applicants will receive an invitation to join the WCO and be asked to complete their profile (a short bio) on our members portal -
Unsuccessful applicants can appeal and resubmit their application for vetting
The membership categories and criteria are:
-
Full Membership will be awarded to those with, typically, a degree level qualification, at least 5 years practical experience of workplace consulting, and whose main role and services are inline with the WCO’s definition of workplace consulting; -
Honorary Membership will be bestowed upon those who are considered, by the WCO Council, to have made a significant contribution to the field of Workplace Consulting; -
Academic Membership applies to full time lecturers and researchers specialising in workplace consulting and associated fields of interest; -
Graduate Membership will be awarded to graduates wishing to pursue a career in workplace consulting.
